More Linux Links:
Motor Links:
Finding Things:
- Google www.google.com
Basically, the best web search engine on the net.
This title used to belong to Infoseek before they turned into Go. And Google
doesn't just win because they aren't powered by Microsoft!
- FTP Search
www.filesearching.com
A reasonable FTP search engine. Not as good as the original, http://ftpsearch.ntnu.no, which
got taken over by Lycos and moved to http://ftpsearch.lycos.com/?form=medium and was never the
same afterwards.
- Freshmeat www.freshmeat.net
Linux files directory.
- ZDNet hotfiles.zdnet.com
Quite a comprehensive files archive for MS Windows related stuff.
Part of the ZD Network which comprises a relatively good site for both files and computing-related news.
- CNET download.cnet.com
Another reasonable windows files archive which also has good news and search abilities.
Friends' Pages:
(in no particular order)
(warning this part has not been updated in donkey's and half the links are likely to be broken!)
- Robert Redshaw
Robert's a friend from secondary school who also attended Bristol University with me, although he graduated in Economics. He currently works for Andersen as an accountant in Jersey. His pages used to house what he may have liked to believe was the Ultimate Starwars Guide. Although, recently, they seem to have been taken over my his parents!!
- Alan Ingham
Alan is a pal from my uni halls, his pages house The Ingham federation!
- Paul Anthony
Paul was the only other person in the entire of Bristol University doing my course and even accompanied me to Toulouse for a year. After graduating with a 1st he chose to work for Syzygy, an IT consultancy in London.
He's into badminton, loud music and beer.
- Paul Denning
The second Paul also graduated from Bristol University with a 1st in Computer Science. He currently works for Sony, programming computer games in London. He has a bit of an obsession with Compuer Games (Classic & PC & Playstation & Everything else).
His pages used to worship the amazing game of Street-fighter, as well as his favourite band Kula-shaker.
However, he claims to have updated them since then -- although I am not convinced they have really changed!
- Mark Gowans
Mark's graduated from Imperial College, London with a degree in Comp-Sci. He currently works for Goldman Sachs in London as an IT person. There's a lot at Mark's site including Mark's Morris-Minor-Museum.
And Finally ...
- Dilbert www.dilbert.com
I absolutely love the Dilbert cartoons, he starts my every day!
- Seti@Home setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu
The Seti (Search for Extra-terestrial Life) project is a nice spare clock-cycle using waste of time.
However, it is strangly appealing .....
